The Village Voice just did a great article on one of our manufacturers, Elephant Pepper. I am not sure why the Fancy Food Show needs to be defnded but the press is nice. We have been working with Elephant Peppers for the past 6 months to get their product on every grocey shelf in the United States. Our market penetration is slowly increasing. We are currently working with the following Kehe Foods, Tree of Life, Wythe Will, and Fairway Markets. The arictle is titled, In Defence of the Fancy Food Show "So to prove that the Fancy Food Show is not worthy of our scorn, here are my picks for the most interesting finds there. Elephant Pepper makes hot sauces and dry spice rubs from African birds eye chiles. The sauces are delicious, not overwhelmingly hot, but very flavorful. The company, based out of Zambia, helps rural villages develop a chile crop, which not only ends up being a source of income (Elephant Pepper buys the harvested chiles and makes them into the hot sauce) but also reduces conflict between elephants and people. Elephants often eat farmers' crops, but it turns out that they hate chiles. By planting chiles as a barrier around other crops, the farmers can deter elephants without harming them. Buy the hot sauce because it's good, but also because the profits are going to protect the elephant population as well as spur economic growth in rural Africa" Here is the Link |

On July 3, 2008 Nature's Cradle Foods set-up a successful sampling table for Honey Care Africa at Fairway Markets , a major retail store in New York City known for its specialty foods. Honey Care Africa is one of the companies for which Nature's Cradle Foods currently provides import and distribution services. Patrick sold 15 jars of Honey to new customers during the two hour Demo and gathered valuable feedback from customers. The Demo was a great opportunity to spread the word about Honey Care’s social impact among the rural Kenyan farmers. Nature's Cradle Foods has Demos planned throughout the summer in New York City at Fairway and the Food Emporium stores.
Let Nature's Cradle Foods be your representative here on the ground in the US. Take advantage of the “Demo” service that we offer. |

Nature's Cradle Foods at the NYC Fancy Foods Trade Show 2008: The Fancy Foods Trade Show 2008 was even better this year than last. Patrick Gasparro had the opportunity to taste some wonderful new products coming out of Africa. More importantly, he met some of the wonderful people who devote themselves to the manufacture and promotion of these products. These products bring desperately needed revenue to some of the poorest people in the world. Patrick shared a booth with Talier Trading Group , run by Jim Thaller, our broker with the golden touch. Jim was able to get some more valuable commitments out of major retailers and distributors. Nature's Cradle Foods looks forward to filling some large orders for Honey Care Africa and Elephant Peppers which were generated during the trade show. Patrick also had the pleasure of attending a party at the South African Consulate. Many of the dishes prepared used the very products that Nature's Cradle Foods is looking to import…all of which were delicious! The South African political leaders and business people were great to hang out with. Hopefully the relationships forged that night will bear fruit in the coming months and years. |
